Donna Praises The Hard Work of the Governor and Legislators To Ensure Residents of MD-4 Are Represented
Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley signed the State House version of legislation authorizing the special general election to fill the 4th Congressional District seat. Under HB 1627 Election Law – Special Congressional Election, Gov. O’Malley will issue a Proclamation that will set in motion the process for confirming the Democratic and Republican nominees and sets the date for the special general election to be held on June 17, 2008.
“I commend Gov. O’Malley for his leadership and the hard work of the Delegates and Senators to find a common sense approach for residents of Maryland’s 4th CD to be represented in Congress,” said Donna Edwards, Democratic nominee for the district in the upcoming regular General Election. “I also appreciate the efforts of the local Democratic Central Committees to ensure that this entire process is fair and upholds the democratic values we hold dear. I look forward to seeking and securing the nomination of my party and to winning the special general election. I am excited about the opportunity the special general election offers to represent the district and to work on the issues important to those in the district much sooner than I had anticipated.”
